Oak Harbor, WA - In what is being referred to as "The Great Experiment," the Marine Search and Rescue divisions of the Island County and Guemes Island joined forces for joint operations training.
Primarily an all-volunteer organization, new recruits were introduced to the art of lifesaving on Puget Sound. Seasoned instructors carried the day with a highly organized and very valuable experience for the trainees. Everyone enjoyed the brilliant weekend weather, pristine waters of our beautiful Pacific Northwest, and a new found camaraderie between divisions.
In terms of developing resources to keep our waters safer, the weekend was considered a great success and sets a benchmark for future region-wide operations.
