Coppercoat, a non-leaching, non-ablative epoxy-based alternative to traditional bottom paints, is applied to our liveaboard/workaboard Cheoy Lee 46 trawler in Port Townsend, WA. From product information to hull preparation, you'll see just how easy it is to mix and apply Coppercoat - with an expected lifespan of at least 10 years. We've had Coppercoat on the bottom for four years now (as of April, 2017) and there has not been a single instance of barnacle or animal growth whatsoever on the Coppercoat. Of course, our running gear needs scraping a couple times a year, and we replace our anodes annually. Each time our diver inspects the hull and has never reported anything beyond a slimy covering that comes off with a rag or plastic scraper (the folks at Coppercoat say DO NOT use a metal scraper). Needless to say, we are VERY satisfied with the performance of Coppercoat thus far!
